My name is Michelle Withrow, and I am thrilled to be joining the staff of Decatur High School this fall! After working in education for the past 22 years as a teacher and school counselor in Georgia, my family is embracing a new adventure in “Sweet Home Alabama.”

I obtained a B.S. in Human Development from Lee University in Cleveland, TN and spent five years teaching before gaining a M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. I spent the next 17 years working with students to achieve varied academic and personal goals. I believe our choices are what make us, and I find tremendous joy in helping students discover their potential and weigh their options to make the best choices possible. Every student has something to offer this world, and I love to see them find their passion and a path forward!

I have been blessed to share this life with a wonderful husband and three amazing children. When
outside of school, you may find me being a swim mom, curling up with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa, working on some type of craft project, or nurturing my skills as a novice grower of succulents. Wherever you find me, be sure to say hello! I can’t wait to meet everyone, and I’m looking forward to a terrific year at Decatur High!
